ECONOMYNEXT – Five companies have shown interest in operating scheduled internal flights in Sri Lanka, a government spokesman said.
Gayantha Karunathileka, Minister of Land and Parliamentary Reforms, said the government is keen to promote internal aviation services in the island.
A committee consisting of the Chairman of National Agency for Public Private Partnership and Managing Director of Airport Aviation Services Sri Lanka Limited has evaluated the proposals, he told a news conference.
The Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a proposal to ask the five firms to apply for operating licences.
