India to gift 150 boats, equipment to northern Sri Lanka fishermen

ECONOMYNEXT – India is to gift 150 boats and fishing equipment to 300 fishermen of Mullaithivu, in northern Sri Lanka’s former war zone.
The High Commission of India said in a statement it will float a tender to procure the items through a competitive bidding process.
The total cost of the project is 100 million rupee.
The agreement for the gift was signed at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development by Y.K. Sinha, High Commissioner of India and W.M.M.R. Adikari, Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.
