ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka’s top civil servant resigned Friday, days after a government minister said he was indisposed and was being treated for a spinal cord issue.
President Maithripala Sirisena’s Secretary, P. B. Abeykoon, stepped down and no immediate replacement was named, a spokesman for the presidential secretariat said.
Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne told reporters on Wednesday that Abeykoon was being treated for a spinal cord issue last week when a trade union of doctors had an informal meeting with the President.
