Sri Lanka President wants new economic program

ECONOMYNEXT - A National Economic Council set up by President Maithripala Sirisena will come up with a 'new economic program' by next week, a statement from his office said after a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and other officials.
"During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the rapid changes required in the country and short term and long term programmes needed to be implemented and the decision to be taken to speed up economic development," the statement said.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ministers Sarath Amunugama, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mangala Samaraweera, John Senevirathne, Sajith Premadasa, Rauff Hakeem, Malik Samarawickrama, Faizer Mustapha, Navin Dissanayake were at the meeting.
General Secretary of the National Economic Council, Lalith Samarakoon, Governor of the Central Bank Indrajit Coomaraswamy were also present.
President's secretary Austin Fernando, Prime Minister's secretary Saman Ekanayake, Cabinet Secreatart, Sumith Abeysinghe, Finance. Secretary R.H.S Samaratunga, Secretary to the Ministry of National Policies K. D.S. Ruwanchandra also participated. (Colombo/Feb19/2018)
