Sri Lanka and Singapore's Surbana to start city planning JV

ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka and Singapore's Surbana will set up a joint venture city planning firm that will offer its services to the country and the region, head of the island's investment promotion office, Upul Jayasuirya said.
The firm will come with a development plan for the water front area around Colombo's Beira Lake.
"The lake will be purified and dredged and the water front will be available for development," Jayasuriya told the Asia Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference in Colombo.
The joint venture firm will hire Sri Lankans, and help transfer know-how and skills.
The firm will also offer its services to the region, leveraging the Surbana brand, Jayasuriya said.
The firm was an initiated by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe he said.
Surbana had already helped draw up a re-development plan for Colombo and is working on an urban plan for the north-eastern port city of Trincomallee. (Colombo/Nov28/2016)
