Sri Lanka poll results delayed due to double checking

ECOOMYNEXT - Official release of results of Sri Lanka's local polls had been delayed due to a delay in returning officer getting hand delivered results from counting stations, polls chief Sunanda Deshapriya has said.
Chairman of Sri Lanka's Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said results by fax and telephone has arrived by hand delivered sheets had not come.
The need to double check results by returning officers was contributing to the delay, he said.
Ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa's Sri Lanka Podu Jana party has won a landslide, in a upset for the ruling coalition, according to unofficial results.
