Sri Lanka's September Colombo consumer inflation rises to 7.1-pct

ECONOMYNEXT – Consumer price inflation in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo rose to 7.1 percent in September from a year ago, its highest in six months, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.
The Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) in August 2017 had been 6.0 percent.
The CCPI for all items for the month of September 2017 was 119.7, an increase of 0.9 index points or
0.71 percentage points compared to August 2017, a statement said.
The year-on-year inflation of the food group increased from 6.9% in August to 10.4% in September 2017 and that of the non‐food group decreased from 5.7% to 5.5% during this period.
