Sri Lankan shares end weaker

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lankan shares ended weaker Wednesday with foreign investors being net sellers in somewhat thin trade, brokers said.

The benchmark All Share Price Index closed at 6,372.70, losing 4.68 points (0.07) while the more liquid S&P SL20 fell 4.99 points or -0.14% to close at 3,655.16. Turnover was Rs627 million.

The ASPI was dragged down by losses in stocks like Dialog Axiata, down 1.74% to Rs11.30, Hemas Holdings, which closed at Rs121, down 1.63%, Commercial Bank, down 0.74% to Rs135, and Aitken Spence which fell 2.71% to Rs57.40.

Foreigner investors continued to buy into John Keells Holdings while selling Commercial Bank.

SC Securities said foreigners were net sellers with a net foreign outflow of Rs36 million for the day.
