Sri Lankan shares recover, foreigners turn sellers

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lankan shares ended higher Thursday with foreign investors being net sellers, brokers said.

The benchmark All Share Price Index edged up 0.5 points (0.01%) to 6,390.74 while the more liquid S&P SL20 index gained 2 points (0.05%) to reach 3,685.96. Turnover was Rs845 million.

Asia Securities said foreign investors were net sellers of Rs70.5 million worth shares, with foreign selling seen mainly in Commercial Bankwhile foreigners were estimated to have bought into Teejay Lanka.

Bartleet Religare Securities said the net foreign inflow into equities so far this year stands at Rs27.5 billion while inflow for August was Rs1.74 billion.
