Sri Lankan stocks close up, foreigners net buyers

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lankan stocks closed up Monday, their highest in almost two months, with foreigners remaining net buyers, taking stakes in the tobacco monopoly and a bank, brokers said.
The benchmark All Share Price Index rose 32.72 points (0.51%) to close at 6,470.96 while the more liquid SP SL20 index closed at 3,709.66, up 21.69 points (0.59%). Turnover was Rs549 million.
SC Securities said the main index was pushed higher mainly by gains in Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC), Lanka Orix Leasing Company, Cargills, John Keells Holdings and Hatton National Bank (HNB).
Foreigners were net buyers, with a net foreign inflow of Rs11 million, mainly in CTC and HNB.
