AirAsia offers to build budget terminal, JV carrier in Sri Lanka: report

ECONOMYNEXT - Malaysia's AirAsia has offered to build a 70 million dollar budget terminal as part of an offer to set up a joint venture budget carrier in the island, a media report said.
Sri Lanka's The Sunday Times newspaper said Sri Lanka's Cabinet Committee on Economic Management (CCEM) has approved the proposal.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Tourism Minister John Amaratunga are submitting a cabinet paper on the offer, the report said.
AirAsia is expected to be given an air operator certificate by Sri Lanka to run an airline with 24 aircraft, over a 5-year period.
The airline will seek a local partner after getting approval for to set up an airline. (Colombo/Nov19/2017)
