ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's central bank will co-operate with a probe started by a parliamentary committee on controversial bond issues in the recent past, newly appointed Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy said.
Coomaraswamy said he would wait for the result from the parliament's Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), before taking action against anyone inside the bank.
"The parliament has the highest degree of sovereignty, the COPE is a group of parliamentarians," he told reporters in Colombo.
"Let's see how it works out."
He said the central bank would co-operate with the investigation by the COPE.
Coomaraswamy said the basic principle was that the Central Bank as an organization will respond to whatever questions that are asked.
But he said he needed to study the matter further.
