Menaka Athukorala appointed chief executive of Sri Lanka's Hatton Plantations

ECONOMYNEXT- Menaka Athukorala has been appointed the joint-chief executive of Sri Lanka's Hatton Plantations Plc (HPL), the firm said in a stock exchange filing.
Athukorala is the Country Operating Officer, Country Manager and a Director of Lotus Renewable Energy (Pvt) Ltd, which acquired a majority stake in HPL for a billion rupees in May.
He has a Higher National Diploma in Plantation Management and Agriculture, and has experience in plantations since 1992.
Lotus Renewable Energy has been on an expansion, acquiring two renewable energy companies in the past three years.
With the acquisition of HPL, it aims to expand into the country's agriculture sector.
The two firms are a part of the G&G Group of Singapore, which invests in agriculture and renewable energy businesses. (Colombo/Jun07/2019)
