South Korean firms to do Sri Lanka LRT feasibility study

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s government has chosen two South Korean engineering consultancy firms to do a pre-feasibility study for six planned Light Rail Transit systems linking the capital Colombo with suburbs.
A spokesman said the Cabinet of ministers decided to award the contract for consultancy services for the pre – feasibility study and feasibility study to Seoyoung Engineering Co. Ltd. and Saman Corporation.
The contract will cost Rs202 million.
The planned LRT systems are to cater to anticipated passenger traffic in the proposed Western region ‘Megapolis’ urban agglomeration.
Seoyoung Engineering Co. Ltd. and Saman Corporation have been involved in consulting services for key infrastructure projects such as highways and transportation.
