Sri Lanka PM gets on board to power sailing yachts

ECONOMYNEXT - Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe got on board the sailing yatch Sapphire, operated by Sail Lanka Charter which the firm says is a boost to aquatic tourism and boat building in the island.
The 53-foot catamaran Sapphire, hosted the Prime Minister during the Fairway Galle Literary Festival.
"We are proud to have had the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka grace our boat during his private visit to the Fairway Galle Literary Festival, and wish to thank him for taking an interest in the dynamic boat building industry and for appreciating our company’s efforts to add value to the sector," Sail Lanka Charter Chief Pierre Pringiers said.
"We are committed to grow with the Sri Lankan tourism industry as a brand new experience the country can offer."
"I believe there is tremendous scope to grow the boat building industry while simultaneously introducing aquatic tourism in this beautiful island."
Pringiers, who was the founder of Solideal, a solid rubber tyre export firm which now part of Canada based Camso group is has been promoting domestic yatch building and sailing for several years.
BAFF Polymech, the firm that builds the yachts have several designs.
