ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena will meet all party leaders on Sunday in a bid to resolve a worsening political crisis triggered by the appointment of ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.

The meeting is aimed at ending the conflicts in parliament, and allowing it to function, the President's office said in a statement.

Legislators loyal to Mahinda Rajapaksa disrupted parliament twice, as no confidence motions were passed against him.

A desperate head of the executive, a weakling in the leader, and the legislature reflecting the inner core of what is in the heart of the elected. Dose any one MP can honestly say that the wealth they have amassed is absolutely legal. Why does the IR hesitate to cause a proper investigation into their declared income and what is their personal wealth and that of their family members, after they were elected.
