Sri Lanka aims for non-fossil fuel vehicle fleet by 2040

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka aims to convert all its vehicles into those powered by non-fossil fuels with import taxes also being lowered on electric vehicles, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera told parliament.
The country will follow the example of India which aims to make the conversion by 2035, he said in a speech to announce the government budget for 2018.
By 2025 all government vehicles will be converted to electric ones, he said.
