ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka has approved 1,348 million US dollars of investment projects up to April 2018, International Trade and Investment Minister Malik Samarawickreme told parliament.

By June about 2.75 billion US dollars of projects including two LNG plants will be approved, he said.

Approved investments usually come into the country over several years as the projects are constructed.

He said Sri Lanka was planning to get 2.5 billion US dollars of foreign direct investments in 2018, up from 1.9 billion US dollars last year, which was the highest in the country's history.

He said up to April the country was 'on track' to get 2.5 billion US dollars of investments. (Colombo/May22/2018 - corrected the US$1.38bn includes local investment shares as well)
