Sri Lanka motor vehicle population up 7-pct to 7.2M: report

ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's motor vehicle population grew 7 percent from a year earlier to 7.2 million in 2017, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Motor Vehicle Industry Report said.
"2017 saw a 5 percent rise in import expenditure despite a 11 percent fall in import volume with yearly new registrations declining by 9 percent," the recent annual report on the country’s motor vehicle market prepared by chamber's Economic Intelligence Unit said.
The report provides a detailed statistical analysis and industry overview of Sri Lanka's motor vehicle market, featuring the latest information on registration, vehicle population, imports of vehicles by vehicle category, top brands imported under each vehicle category and overview on the global motor vehicle market including electric vehicles.
