Sri Lanka rupee, bonds open steady

ECONOMYNET - Sri Lanka's rupee was quoted at 178.90/179.10 to the US dollar in the first hour of trading, firmer from yesterday's closing with bonds remaining steady, dealers said.
The rupee ened wider around 178.90/40 a day earlier.
Sri Lanka's Supreme Court is hearing a challenge to dissolution of parliament by President Maithripala Sirisena for the third day Friday. An interim order reversing the dissolution has been extended till Saturday.
In money markets call money and repo were quoted at 8.90/9.00 percent.
The 12-month Treasury was quoted 10.95/11.05 percent with down the auction price of 11.20 percent on Wednesday.
Bonds were quoted around the same levels as Thursday's closing.
A 3-year bond maturing on 01.03.2021 was quoted around 11.40/50 percent.
A 5-year bond maturing on 15.05.2023 was quoted at 11.65/70 percent.
An 8-year bond maturing on 15.06.2027 was quoted at 11.95/12.05 percent. (Colombo/Dec07/2018)
