ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's Credence Genomics said it has tied up with Apollo Hospitals Group to offer diagnostic services for infectious diseases to patients in India starting with Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The biotechnology firm, which is equipped with 'Next Generation Sequencing' technology, said the new line of tests are based on a specialized DNA diagnostics platform offering faster and more precise diagnosis.
The treatment technique, known as 'personalised medicine', is based on genetic tests that are emerging from what's known as the revolution in DNA sequencing, breakthroughs in mapping people's genetic make-up.
Credence Genomics has an Indian subsidiary, Micro Genomics (India), and a supply tie-up with Thermo Fischer Scientific, a big New York-listed biotechnology company.
Vaz Gnanam, founding chief executive and director, Credence Genomics, said in a statement the deal with Apollo, India’s largest integrated healthcare provider, was “a major step for Sri Lanka and the local medical profession as well as the country’s economy.”
He also said they will hold a forum, Beyond Biotec 2018, on 25 January highlighting successful commercial innovations in the private sector biotechnology industry, along with opportunities in research.
