Sri Lanka's JLanka wins Bahrain solar power deal: report

ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka based JLanka International, a solar power firm has won a deal from the government of Bahrain to train and certify contractors and consultants in solar photovoltaic systems, a media report said.
JLanka has been engaged by the Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU)of the Ministery of Electricity and Water, in Bahrain.
JLanka has also been appointed the lead consultant in a project to instable solar PV on more than 500 government building in Bahrain including schools and hospitals, Trade Arabia an online news portal said.
An official had said JLanka will use its presence in Bahrain to expand into the rest of the Gulf Co-operation Council countries.
"Bahrain’s Government has a clear commitment to renewable energy enablement and is therefore the perfect location to launch and expand a technology driven company," Magdy Elnemr, chief business development officer of JLanka International as saying.
"Bahrain provides companies with the unique opportunity to expand directly across the GCC, making it an important gateway for any company looking to access the rest of the GCC."
JLanka is also maintaining a 5 MegaWatt solar plant at the University of Bahrain under a joint venture formed with Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO). (Colombo/Jan22/2018)
