Sri Lanka stocks down, crossings dominate trade

ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka stocks closed lower on Wednesday despite foreign buying, with locals selling Melstacorp Plc and Ceylinco Insurance Plc accounting for most of the turnover on Boxing Day.
The All Share Price Index closed at 6,019.62, down 0.09 percent or 5.50 points, while the more liquid S&P SL20 Index ended at 3,121.50, down 0.10 percent or 3.23 points after recording gains in early trading.
Crossings of Melstacorp and Ceylinco accounted for 94 percent of total turnover of 670.9 million rupees.
There were net foreign purchases of 344.7 million rupees.
John Keells Holdings Plc and LOLC Holdings Plc shares closed lower, contributing to the change in the All Share Price Index. (Colombo/Dec26/2018)
