Sri Lanka stocks gain 0.05-pct, buying on CTC

ECONOMYNEXT- Stocks at Sri Lanka's Colombo Stock Exchange closed 0.05 percent higher on Thursday, with buying on tobacco stock, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed 3 points up at 5,606.35.
The ASPI reached an intra-day low of 5,593.67 at the start of the afternoon session, before reaching a daily high of 5,611.09, and then edging lower at close.
The more liquid stocks on S&P SL20 Index closed 0.20 percent or 5.39 points lower at 2,710.27.
Market turnover was 200.25 million rupees, with 45 stocks gaining and 61 falling.
There was high foreign participation, with net inflows of 2.8 million rupees into the market.
Ceylon Tobacco Company was the most active, generating 79 million rupees in turnover, and contributed most to the ASPI gain, closing 34.50 rupees higher at 1,340 rupees a share.
Index-heavy stocks closed lower, with Hatton National Bank down 1.50 rupees to 177 rupees a share, John Keells Holdings down 50 cents to 152 rupees a share and Dialog Axiata down 10 cents to 9 rupees a share. (Colombo/Apr18/2019-SB)
