ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka will investigate reports of tourists being harassed at immigration control, tourism minister John Amaratunga said.
"We have many problems with the immigration at the international airport," Minister Amaratunga said Friday.
“Immigration is where a tourist first gets an impression of the country, so we will investigate and solve this,” Amaratunga said.
Official data showed that 1.2 million tourists visited Sri Lanka for the first six months of 2018, which was a 15.3 percent increase compared to a year earlier.
Over a third of the tourists who visited came from India and China, while 28 percent of the tourists came from Europe. (COLOMBO, 20 July, 2018)
