Sri Lanka to seek World Bank funds for US$274mn waste project

ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's is to seek World Bank funds to part finance a 274 million dollar project for waste disposal in the fast-growing Western Province.
The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development and local councils have developed a project to dispose solid waste in Aruwakkalu and further develop an existing site in Muturajapwela.
The project which also involves stabilizing other waste sites has been estimated to cost 274 million US dollars.
The ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs had received cabinet approval to negotiate 115 million dollars from the World Banks' International Bank for Reconstruction and Development window.
