ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s police have announced that roads could be closed temporarily from time to time as security forces hunt for suspected bombs or members of an extremist group who killed 359 people in Sunday’s suicide attacks.
There have been several bomb scares in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo, suburbs and other towns after Easter Sunday’s bomb attacks on three churches and three luxury hotels.
A police spokesman said the public should be prepared for temporary road closures as security forces hunt for more bombers or bombs.
Army bomb disposal squads have been setting off controlled explosions involving suspect unattended parcels or motorcycles since Sunday’s blasts.
The security forces are also hunting for more members of the extremist Islamist group behind Sunday’s attacks, having arrested about 60 people so far.
The blasts injured over 500 people. At least 39 foreigners were among the dead.
