Alms-giving held in Gangarama for Easter victims

An alms-giving ceremony was held at the Gangarama temple in Colombo yesterday, commemorating the hundreds who died in the devastating Easter bombings.

Held under the patronage of President Maithriapala Sirisena, the ceremony saw the participation of 50 Buddhist monks who facilitated the passing of merits to people who died in the attack, as per Buddhist custom, while wishing those who sustained injuries a speedy recovery.

Members of the Maha Sangha, Catholic priests, Ministers and several members of Parliament took part in the event, a communique released by the President’s Media Division said.
