ECONOMYNEXT- Leader of the National Peoples’ Power alliance (NPP) Anura Kumara Dissanayake is asking the government to provide a separate report about the losses suffered by the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) for the period 2008-2015.

Speaking in Parliament during the debate on the Central Bank Report for 2019, he said that the Forensic Audit Report issued for the period 2008-2012 about the activities of the CBSL shows how the EPF was misused during that period.

He said that the CBSL reports do not include the damage that happened to the EPF and added that huge corruption took place using the EPF money in the stock exchange.

Further, he said that it was former CBSL Governor and now State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal who gave Perpetual Treasuries Ltd the license to act as a primary buyer.

In 2015 CBSL bond scam, the bonds which were purchased by Perpetual Treasuries Ltd in the primary market was brought by the EPF which is under the CBSL in the secondary market.

“So using the EPF the 2015 bond scam and the scam which was mentioned through the forensic audit report from 2008-2012 was carried out,” he added. (Colombo/Sept8/2020)
