Arjuna Mahendran appointed as Sri Lanka Central Bank Governor
COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Arjuna Mahendran, an international investment banker has been appointed Governor of Sri Lanka’s Central Bank, the president’s office said.
President Maithripala Sirisena had handed the appointment letter to Mahendran Friday following a recommendation of Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.
The central bank’s rate setting monetary board is to sit Monday for its monthly policy decision.
Mahendran was has headed Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment from 2002 to 2004 when Wickramasinghe was Prime Minister.
