Army sets up Overall Operations Command in Colombo

The Army has established an Overall Operational Command (OOC) in Colombo with immediate effect, bringing together all tri-forces and Police areas within the Western Province and the Puttalam District.

According to a statement issued yesterday (29) by the Army Headquarters, Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces-West will serve as Overall Operational Commander.

Rear Admiral W. A. S. S. Perera (Navy), Air Vice Marshal W. L. R. P. Rodrigo (Air Force) and Police Superintendent L. K. D. Anil Priyantha will be appointed Coordinating Officers for their respective force and the Police.

According to a communique sent to the Ministry of Defence by
Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, the OOC will commence duties immediately under the Chief of Staff.
