Ashok Leyland unit wins Sri Lanka bus contracts
ECONOMYNEXT – Ashok Leyland’s Sri Lanka unit has won two contracts to supply 325 buses to the state-run Sri Lanka Transport Board, the state information office said in a statement.
In one contract worth 3.3 billion rupees, Sri Lanka Transport Board will buy 272 buses with 50 seats each.
The other deal worth 444 million rupees is for 53 luxury buses, each with 33 seats.
Both contracts provide for five-year payment periods.
The Cabinet of Ministers this week approved the contracts proposed by Transport minister Arjuna Ranatunga.
