BBS-led alliance on the cards?
Amid speculation that the controversial Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) may be looking to form a coalition of like-minded groups in the run-up to the next parliamentary election, the Sinhala Buddhist nationalist organisation held a discussion yesterday on forming an alliance with at least one such group.
BBS Chief Executive Officer Dilanthe Withanage confirmed to RepublicNext this today that a meeting was held in this regard yesterday, but did not elaborate on the particulars of the discussion.
“During a meeting held yesterday, we discussed a possible collaboration with the organisation named Dharmapala Parapura. Whether we will get together with other organisations has yet to be decided,” he said.
Withanage further said that the collaboration with Dharmapala Parapura (‘Generation of Dharmapala’) will focus on working together for next year’s parliamentary elections.
