Norfolk Foods’ newest product offering, Lean Mean Green (LMG) made based on family recipes, will make Sri Lankan home delicacies accessible globally. The company, with over 30 years of experience, uses Sri Lanka’s best assets – its local produce – to make classic meals with a twist.
LMG offers a plant-based culinary experience with more of a cultural perspective. The products use ingredients used for generations in Sri Lankan kitchens.
Lean Mean Green was launched in the UK at the International Food and Drink Exhibition 2023 with The FoodFellas of the CPF Group. The company plans to take the LMG range to new markets around the world.
“Almost all restaurants/hotels or eating spaces globally offer vegan meal options. Norfolk Food’s strategy is to make these local plant-based products more readily available for the export market through the LMG product range,” said Ameena Ziauddin, President of Norfolk Foods.
The LMG range includes ready-to-cook products that need to be stored under -18 Celsius; from freezer to fryer.
Polos Burger & Polos Cutlets
Norfolk Foods differentiates its plant-based products with clean labelling, so the consumer knows what they are eating. “These products are naturally vegan; we are not processing these products to make it vegan. We don’t want these products to replace meat or for it to look like meat. These purely vegan products are for anyone who is looking for a vegan culinary experience,” Ameena Ziauddin said.
LMG products are manufactured in an ultra-modern, HALAL-certified, HACCP and ISO 22000-approved production facility, using state-of-the-art technology and the highest quality and hygiene control standards to ensure superior taste and product integrity from freezer to plate.
Moreover, the LMG range is designed and manufactured based on family recipes using locally sourced ingredients/produce. Tender and mature jackfruit are commonly found in all Sri Lankan gardens and are known globally for their nutritional benefits. Their meat-like texture makes it an excellent substitute.
Norfolk Foods participated at the ANUGA, No. 1 Food and Beverage Trade Fair, in Cologne, Germany in October 2023 and served up a sampling of products for interested parties to experience the taste and quality of plant-based products manufactured by the company.
The LMG range has a wide variety of products ranging from polos cutlets, polos burgers, jackfruit nuggets, chilli cheeseburgers and a variety of deliciously filled pancakes.
