To commemorate World Children’s Day on 1st October 2022, Sri Lanka Insurance (SLIC) announced the launch of a CSR initiative to provide free life cover worth Rs1 million for the parents of every child being born on 1st October 2022 island-wide.
The island-wide programme covered every hospital in the country. As the national insurer, the main objective behind this CSR initiative is to fulfil SLIC’s duty towards the nation by safeguarding the nation’s families and communities, the company said in a statement.
SLIC Chief Executive Officer Chandana L. Aluthgama said, “Providing a secure future to the children of this nation is a priority for SLIC, and we will continue to support the parents as well. SLIC is a people-centric insurance provider, and it will continue to deliver its promise.”
As a national insurer, SLIC fulfilling its responsibilities towards the nation and the people by taking the message of insurance to everyone. It has taken a keen interest in protecting and nurturing future generations. SLIC strongly believes in uplifting the lives of Sri Lankan people through CSR initiatives, and this approach is a core element in its business strategy. SLIC has always stepped forward to secure the education and futures of children, particularly when they lose their parents’ protection.

Sri Lanka Insurance was among the most profitable state entities with a top performance in the first half of 2022, recording a profit before taxation of Rs7.7 billion on improving combined Gross Written Premium (GWP) of Rs21 billion, up 13.1% from a year earlier. SLIC also secured the ‘Most Valuable General Insurance Brand’ and the ‘Most Loved Insurance Brand’ for the 5th consecutive year by Brand Finance.
