Cabinet approves purchase of 100MW additional power for six months

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to purchase 100MW of additional power for six months presented by Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development Ravi Karunanayake at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers, as per Karunanayake’s proposal which was based on recommendations made by the Standing Procurement Committee of the Cabinet, approval has been granted to award contracts to the following companies:

The British owned Aggreko International Project Ltd to supply 24MW to the Pallekele substation and 10MW to the Galle substation at Rs. 30.20 per KW.

Altaaqa Alternative Solution Global FZE  of UAE to supply 10MW at Rs. 30.58 per KW to Mahiyanganaya substation and 8MW at Rs. 30.63 per KW to Polonnaruwa substation.

V Power Holdings Ltd of Hong Kong to supply 24MW at Rs. 28.43 per KW to Hambantota substation and another 24MW at Rs. 28.70 per KW to Horana substation.
