The Cabinet of Ministers will reconvene next Tuesday (18), Minister of National Integration Mano Ganesan said.
The prospects of Cabinet meetings being held had been hanging on the balance since President Maithripala Sirisena decided to boycott last week’s meeting.
Sirisena will reportedly preside over next week’s meeting as is the standard practice.
Meanwhile, Minister P. Harrison told journalists today that the Cabinet will reconvene in the “coming weeks.”
“This is not the first time Cabinet didn’t meet. There have been times when Cabinet meetings weren’t held for a week or two at a stretch,” said Harrison at a press conference held in Colombo this morning.
According to Minister Champika Ranawaka, there are 51 listed Cabinet papers, 19 new papers and 34 papers which contain the appointment of state workers to different state departments pending approval.
