Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith met with Pope Francis in the Vatican yesterday (20), where he briefed the Pontiff on the situation in the country in the wake of the Easter attacks.
In a press conference held in Vatican City, Cardinal Ranjith explained to journalists the consequences of the suicide attacks.
“There was a husband who had lost his wife and three children. When I went to visit him, he told me that, before, when he returned from work all three children ran to the door to greet him. Today there is no one, only an empty house,” media reports quoted the Cardinal as saying.
“I asked the Catholics, the Buddhists and everyone else not to raise their hands against Muslims because it is clear that the Muslim community had nothing to do with this,” he added.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Cardinal told RepublicNext that the Cardinal’s visit to the Vatican was a personal visit.
