ECONOMYNEXT – A majority 58 percent of Sri Lanka’s foreign missions are now headed by career diplomats, up from 37 percent a year ago, Foreign Secretary Ravinatha Ariyasinha has said.
Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunewardene had always stood for Sri Lanka Foreign Service officials to be given priority in serving at foreign Secretary Aryasinha had recalled.
The new minister assuming duties had said that the country was looking towards the Foreign Ministry to find solution for external pressures and challenges.
In achieving a vision for a secure and prosperous future, a single agency cannot work alone but must work with other institutions, Minister Gunewardene had said. (Colombo/Nov27/2019)
