COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka’s main business chamber, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, has appointed a board of directors to lead the organisation and created new positions in its leadership structure.
Samantha Ranatuga, Managing Director and Chief Executive of the CIC group, was elected new chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, succeeding Suresh Shah.
The appointment of a new Vice Chairperson and a Deputy Vice Chairperson also took place at its annual general meeting Thursday.
Rajendra Theagarajah, Chief Executive of National Development Bank, was elected as the Vice Chairperson of the Ceylon Chamber while Hans Wijeysuriya, Dialog Axiata Group Chief Executive, was elected as the Deputy Vice Chairperson.
The AGM also saw the appointment of a nine member ‘Board of Directors’ under the newly ratified rules of the Chamber in place of its ‘Standing Committee A ’.
The nine member Board consists of Samantha Ranatunga, Rajendra Theagarajah, Hans Wijeysuriya, Hiran Cooray, Chairperson of the Jetwing Group, Vish Govindasamy, Group Managing Director of Sunshine Holdings PLC, Sheamlee Wickramasingha, Managing Director of Ceylon Biscuits Limited, Duminda Hulangamuwa, Partner – Head of Tax Services, Ernst and Young, Faizal Salieh, Director of HNB General Insurance and Mangala P.B. Yapa, Secretary General and Chief Executive of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
