China continues to see volatile cross-border capital flows – regulator

BEIJING, July 23 (Reuters) – China continues to see volatility in cross-border capital flows, a senior official at the currency regulator said on Thursday.

Wang Chunying, spokeswoman of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange(SAFE), also told reporters that the impact on China of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s normalization policy is generally controllable, but may result in increased cross-border capital outflows.

China should not lower its guard against the possibility of external shocks, Wang said, although the country has the ability to deal with such shocks.
