Civil Society wants PM not to compromise on PSC
Civil Society activists are demanding that the government not give in to pressure to scuttle the Parliamentary Select Committee probing the Easter attacks.
A delegation comprising representatives of several organisations made this demand today when they met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees this morning.
One of the delegates is Professor Chandraguptha Thenuwara who told RepublicNext that there appear to be various “political forces trying to impede the process of the PSC.”
He said the delegation wanted the government to stay the course and not make compromises.
Wickremesinghe had replied that there was little he could do to stop the PSC.
He pointed out that the Cabinet and the PSC are committees of the Parliament and the cabinet has no control over the functioning of the PSC.
