The air quality of Colombo city is likely to be unhealthy in the early morning and gradually return to moderate levels at daytime, National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) Air Quality Studies Senior Scientist H. D. S. Premasiri said.
Speaking to RepublicNext, Premasiri said air quality will start to become moderate after sunrise as sunlight touches the city.
“Yesterday and the day before, air quality in Colombo was unhealthy in the early hours. The prevalent situation is a result of weather patterns experienced in Sri Lanka at present.” Premasiri said.
The NBRO scientist further said that the situation is likely to continue until the northeast monsoon ends.
