Colombo Municipality begins charging Parking Fees from today

ECONOMYNEXT – Colombo Municipal Council is charging for parking from today the Council announced.

Charging of the parking fee was temporarily suspended with the imposing of island-wide curfew due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

CMC Commissioner, Roshinie Dissanayaka in a statement says currently the Smart Parking Management System is in operation on Galle road, Duplication road and all connected roads to the two roads.

“Traffic wardens of Colombo Municipal Council or of authorized parking operators are recruited in all other areas in the city. Parking users in these areas have to pay parking charges to these wardens following necessary health practices.” Dissanayake said in the statement.

The charges are:

Motor Car/Van/Cab                                50 rupees per hour

Motor Cycle                                              20 rupees per hour

Three Wheeler                                          20 rupees per hour

Bus/ Lorry                                                  70 rupees per hour

School Vans                                               600 rupees per Month

School busses                                            1000 rupees per Month

Office staff transport vans                      1,200 rupees per Month

Office staff transport buses                    2,000 rupees per Month
