Colombo stock exchange to be closed on Sri Lanka Coronavirus holidays: SEC
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange will follow government holidays declared to combat Coronavirus and remain closed on those days, the Securities and Exchange Commission said.
The SEC had met officials of the Colombo Stock Exchange and Colombo Brokers Association.
“After the meeting, it is the considered view of the SEC that under the prevailing conditions, the stock market will not be able to function in a fair, orderly and equitable manner,” the SEC said in a statement.
“As such, the SEC decided that the CSE may not be opened for trading during days that are declared by the Government as public holidays under the prevailing situation.”
