Communal violence has brought disgrace to country – Air Force Commander
The recent communal violence has brought disgrace to the country, Air Force Commander Air Marshall Kapila Jayampathy said.
In a statement released to the media, the SLAF Chief called on the public to not get involved in incidents of violence among communities.
His airmen are under orders to take stern legal actions against rioters, he warned.
The Commander requested travellers to minimise the number of people going to drop off or pick up passengers at the airport in order to facilitate the security work being carried out by the SLAF at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
Jayampathy added that the Air Force has tightened the security of the BIA and is trying its best to avoid any interruptions to travelers.
The Air Force Commander also urged parents to send their children to school without any fear as the security forces have ensured the security of all the schools island-wide.
