The Public can now lodge complaints against the Police on-line after the National Police Commission launched a new service today.
The NPC accepts and investigates complaints against the Police department as one of its main tasks.
This was introduced as part of the reforms that came after the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed.
It has made the Police more answerable to citizens.
From today the process can be done online. Those without Internet access can lodge complaints in the traditional manner by visiting the NPC officers or posting letters.
The online service was launched today by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
