Cops interdicted for spreading unverified info

Two police officers from the Fort Police Station were interdicted yesterday (9 Oct) over a letter sent to several hotels in Colombo warning them of impending terror attacks which was based on unverified information.

The officers are the Crime Division OIC and the Administration division OIC attached to the Fort police station.

Speaking to RepublicNext the police media said that although the officers had received intel pertaining to national security they had decided to issue statements to the relevant hotels without verifying the information.
