Dengue threat on the rise
The health authorities are warning that there is a risk of another Dengue epidemic as the Southwest monsoon is active.
Accordingly, Colombo, Gamphaha, Kandy, Galle, and Rathnapura districts have been named as the districts prone to Dengue.
Dengue mosquitoes will be more active in the morning from 6 am to 11 am and 3 pm to 7 pm in the evening, the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) said in a statement.
The HPB urges the public to consult a doctor immediately if fever persists and symptoms such as headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pain, red spots and bleeding are visible.
This year, a total of 19815 dengue cases have been reported thus far, according to the Epidemiology Unit of Ministry of Health.
