Development Officers attached to the Ministry of Internal and Home Affairs will be carrying out a one-day token strike today (04) demanding a solution to their unaddressed grievances, Secretary of the Development Officers’ Service Union Chandana Sooriyaarachchi said.
Speaking to RepublicNext, Sooriyaarachchi said that the Officers will also carry out a protest in front of the Ministry at 12 pm today.
“The Development Officers have not received the supervisor’s allowance since 2013, and we did not receive the Rs. 3,000 which was promised to us through the Grama Shakthi People’s Movement that commenced in 2018,” he said.
Sooriyaarachchi further said that the Officers also face problems due to unfair transfers and by not receiving allowances for administrative expenses in the Gamperaliya project.
